This interior architecture project in Bordeaux involves the complete renovation of the Surson Apartment, a 1950s property located in the heart of the Chartrons district. The aim of the intervention was to reveal the apartment’s existing potential while adapting it to contemporary uses, through an approach that respects its history.

The first phase of the project focused on a comprehensive technical upgrade. The building systems were modernized to meet current standards of comfort and performance. The joinery was replaced to improve thermal and acoustic insulation, while all surface finishes were rethought to create a harmonious visual continuity between spaces. This discreet yet essential restructuring made it possible to offer a more functional and sustainable living environment.

The interior design is structured around a respectful dialogue with the original materials. The result is a warm and soothing interior, where the authenticity of the materials interacts with a contemporary aesthetic. Existing elements were enhanced and showcased through the use of refined and elegant materials, colors, and textures. Every detail was carefully considered to reinforce the balance between authenticity and modernity.

The outcome is a renovated apartment in Bordeaux with a warm and calming atmosphere, where natural light plays a central role. The space now fully reveals its architectural richness, offering an interior that is timeless, comfortable, and perfectly suited to modern living. This project illustrates a sensitive approach to interior architecture, in which respect for the existing structure becomes the starting point for a controlled contemporary aesthetic.
